Whalley Range Manchester . Seemingly random place for cycle parking. I suppose it prevents pavement car parking here . May be it'll be used in the new bike hire scheme to be launched this Autumn. https://news.tfgm.com/resources/kocku-gnyh8- ... [more]

Despite my complaint in 2020 Manchester City Council still have not maintained this underpass.

A cyclist in Manchester who's about to head over the Pennines along the Rochdale Canal; a ride for those who can handle a little grit with their pearl.

Bus stop bypass. A nice feature.

Very poor finish on the cycle gutter (which cannot be used anyway)

Bicycles do not fit in the sole lift provided on the north side of this bridge. This bridge likely infringes the Equality Act 2010.

Staircase gutters too close to railings, so you cannot wheel a bicycle up or down.

New cycleway connecting Thorley Lane to A555 and "cycling bridge"

The new bridge across the M56. Marked as bad practice because despite being a "cycling" bridge, you cannot cycle onto or off it.

This is a shared footway. A new entrance to a private business park has been built across it. This is really, really bad infrastructure. The islands are too small for long bicycles with trailers, the angles are severe and motorists will ... [more]

This dark, unlit, narrow and filthy passageway with bollards at each end is on the Fallowfield Loop diversion. Would you use this at night?

Welcome to the Fallowfield Diversion route. Would you use this unlit and muddy underpass at night?

The wear on the left shows that many people choose to ignore this annoying chicane, which also serves as a point at which to mug users.

The barriers have been replaced with something less stupid, but it's unbelievable in this day and age that Sustrans, a walking and cycling charity, feel this is at all appropriate. WE DO NOT WANT BARRIERS TO ACTIVE TRAVEL.

This side road crossing used to be quite good, but it's since been repainted incorrectly.. https://t.co/aHZYYVTJck

This is part of the diversion from the Fallowfield Loop while the bridge is being replaced, but the lack of dropped kerbs makes it inaccessible by bicycle or wheelchair.

More pointless barriers.

Extremely low headroom on this former canal tunnel makes cycling here a risky prospect.

The ludicrous barrier to the ramp onto the Fallowfield Loop. This discriminatory obstacle should be removed, immediately.

Hasty Lane: A solitary bollard (thank God it isn't a chicane) protects this overgrown and slippery ramp down to the tunnel beneath the motorway.

Hasty Lane: Once in the tunnel, however, the surface is much improved. This could be a valuable route if it were better taken care of.

A lack of maintenance has left this ramp in a disgusting and possibly dangerous condition. Reported.

Special walk-and-text lanes have been provided in Spinningingfields, Manchester - for one day only, it's actually a marketing stunt.

The cycleway here is narrow and the surface poor, but this isn't such a bad thing - go too fast here and you risk a head-on collision with another cyclist. I think the overgrowth needs cutting back though.

New cycle control for the crossing. Buttons are better than induction loops, which can sometimes fail to register the presence of a bicycle.

A good way to make a point about how much space parked cars take from the highway.

This cycle crossing is also perfectly placed for pedestrians, which invites conflict. It might be better to widen it significantly and remove all road markings - let people decide what they want to do.

Central Manchester . A short 50 yard section of Southmill Street has been made 1 way . Surely this is wide enough to allow 2 way cycling and a safer quiter route to Albert Sq.

Another triumph for the all-powerful cycle lobby. Look at how much space they have managed to get away from the poor subjugated motorist. https://t.co/trskT70z6r
